A solar photovoltaic (SPV) water pumping system consists of a PV array, a DC/AC surface mounted/ submersible/ floating motor pump set, electronics, if any, interconnect cables and an “On-Off” switch. PV Array is mounted on a suitable structure with a provision of tracking. Solar powered water pumps can deliver drinking water as well as water for livestock or irrigation purposes. It may be especially useful in small scale or community based irrigation, as large scale irrigation requires large volumes of water that in turn require a large solar PV array.
